Lego Mindstorms EV3 and Lego Spike Prime

What is FLL?

The FIRST LEGO League Challenge Robotics Tournament challenges students from 9 to 16 years old to seek solutions for the everyday life of modern society. The themes are different each season – in 2020, for example, they were challenged to rethink spaces for exercises, competitions and games.

Young people, led by two adults, need to work in harmony based on values such as respect, mutual gain and friendly competition. Following specific rules specifically for each season, they build patterns based on LEGO Mindstorm technology, which must be programmed to fulfill a series of missions.

What is OBR?

The Brazilian Robotics Olympiad (OBR) is one of the Brazilian scientific olympics that uses the theme of robotics.

Its objective is to encourage young people to take up scientific-technological careers, identify talented young people and promote debates and updates in the Brazilian teaching-learning process.

The OBR is aimed at all students from any public or private elementary, secondary or technical school throughout the country, and is a public, free and non-profit initiative

The Practical Modality takes place through Regional and State events/competitions that classify the student teams for a National final, the students are under the guidance of their professors and scientists. The events organized by OBR and are free and open to the public.

About the controller

The controller used for processing and executing the tasks is made by Lego itself, the two models used are the EV3 and the Spike Prime

About the programming language

Lego Mindstorms EV3 uses technology based on LabView as its native language, although it can be programmed in C, C++, C# and MicroPython.

Spike Prime has a blocky low code tool, but it also natively supports Python
